What this site is
This is an independent information site about village life in Nottinghamshire, in the English Midlands. It brings together general, well documented background on the county's villages, on rural services such as village halls and community shops, on volunteering and adult learning, and on Langold Country Park.
The site is not affiliated with any council, charity, community group or other organisation named in its articles, and it does not speak for any of them. Where an article mentions an organisation, it does so only to explain what that organisation does.
How we write
Each article sticks to facts that can be checked in published sources, such as local authority pages, the reports of national charities and encyclopaedic references. Where a detail changes over time or varies between villages, we say so and leave it out rather than guess.
You will not find opening hours, prices, event dates or personal profiles here. For anything current, the managers of the place or the organisation concerned are the right source.
Corrections and limits
The guides are general introductions, not official notices or advice. If a fact in an article appears out of date, check it against the primary source it relates to before relying on it.
